Audax TW025A0: 1″ Textile Dome Tweeter
Now made by AAC. AAC, or “Applications Acoustiques de Composites,” is a manufacturer for loudspeaker acoustic components. In addition to manufacturing membranes in cellulose fiber (paper), the primary activity for which the company is renowned, AAC has become more diversified through the development of new technologies and the use of such materials as glass fiber, aramid fiber (®kevlar), carbon fiber, titanium, aluminium, ceramics, plastic materials and, more recently, magnesium or sandwich composite.
Audax are well known for their fine tweeters, among these the 25mm soft dome TW025A0 used in numerous high-fidelity loudspeakers world-wide, including such brands as Mission, Von Schweikert, Wilson, etc. The TW025A0 is a high-quality 8 ohm 25mm voice coil tweeter, a direct replacement for the Audax HD100D25, HD12x9D25 and HD12x8D25 bodies but with improved performance. (Also see Audax TW025A1-12X9) The TW025A0 features a solid aluminum faceplate, replaceable voice-coil assembly and very linear response.
The catenary (curved) shape of this textile dome provides stiffness at the tip, so the moving mass behaves more like a perfect piston. This prevents out of phase break-up and the resulting sound is smooth, clean and effortless. Low resonant frequency. Made in France.
